I live in Germany, and don´t work, but have been putting money back from grocery trips and have an extra 16 dollars to spend. I took 2 pictures to a photo shop and am having pictures put on a coffee cup. My husband said he wanted this a long time ago, and I kept forgetting to do it.

My sister does the same thing-she puts pictures of her 4 children on a cup, and her husband loves it!

I don´t know how much it costs in the US, but I doubt it´s very much, but it means A LOT!

I am a mum of 4 on a tight budget also….last year I got the family invlved. I had each of my children cut out heart shapes and write something nice about their dad on it. we posted then all around the mirror in the loungeand underneath was a small box of pepermint creams they had made. That evening we got the kids in bed and watched a dvd (that I had lent from a friend) and ate a bag of popcorn. Our TV and video are in the bedroom so it was nice to snuggle up together.

one year for christmas my husband and i used a notebook each where we wrote daily for advent all the wonderul things we appreciated, thought about eachother. sometimes a poem, sometimes a journal entry or picture…whatever the mood took to celebrate the wonderfulness of the other. perhaps you could adapt that idea for valentines…

i dont know if you have time for this, but for my grandmothers birthday i wrte to all her friends and family and asked them to share something about my grandmother to compile a book. adding in photo’s and a little family history the book became a treasure. perhaps something on a smaller scale could be done for your husband.

lastly – this year for chirstmas my husband made me a conversation jar. inside the caning jar are numerous slips of paper with questions on it to encourage conversations. we pick one each evening before bed. its suprising how much we find out about eachother that we didnt already know.

Have a good feb 14th. I understand how hard it is to share special times with your husband after spending the day with children. its nice to make a special effort for the day.

Hi: You can do a Valentine’s Spa Night for him. Most men love this and you can pick and choose what types of things he might enjoy. I know my guy really likes it. My girlfriend, Mum of 2, even had her children help her set it up and they were delighted. I watched them for a few hours for her last year so she and her husband could have some alone time.

Plus, you can do it without spending much money. Maybe just buy some fragranced oil if you don’t have any. You can do a massage, manicure, facial. I wrote how to do it step by step, but just do what he would feel comfortable with and feel free to skip buying him the robe. How tos are on on ehow, the link is below. Happy V-Day, Candy

Time = money…so, burn a cd of love songs. Choose ones that fit the two of you. As if you were signing the songs to him. Get yourself a babysitter that can watch your kids at their house. Make his favorite meal. Set the dinner table fancy resturaunt style with candles. Play cd during dinner. I don’t have to explain what to do in the bedroom…you have four kids!

why not make some love coupons, i am on a budget so i used the computer to design some coupons for his faverite things eg, a coupon for a hour long massage, or breakfast in bed, or some kinky stuff, and tell him he can use them when he wants, its fun and its free.

Yeah, instead of spending ur money on crap from an overpriced gift/card shop, try telling each other how much you love them, and what they mean to you. If you have to swap cards, why not make one out of things you have around the home. Decorate it with leaves, flowers from the garden, or make a cake and decorate it with a personal message.

You sound like you have enough on ur plate to even begin to bother to worry about Valentines day! What do you do for the rest of the year? Why wait til Feb 14th when u r expected to be romantic?

Get down to the pound shop, buy a 5ft roll of gift wrap, some sticky tape & wrap yourself up. As you’ve only spent £2, get a nice bottle of fizz to have once you’ve been unwrapped.
