Landscape And Gardening Ideas – See The Difference After Landscaping
Planning landscaping of your garden is an enjoyable but difficult task. You need not take professional help but you will have to read up about the different trees and plants available and what is required to have a healthy
and well looked after garden.
Analyze your garden area first
First and foremost you should go around your garden ad have a look at the plus and minus points of it. Maybe
there are areas that you would want to hide and areas that you would want to emphasize more. The soil may not
be suitable for growing plants and may need some fertilizers and nutrients added to it. Go over all these
factors and see what you will need to do about it by way of first setting the soil right.
Make a rough sketch of your property
If you make a sketch of your property you will be able to visualize the requirements of the landscape much
better. Draw this as close to the proper scale as possible and put in the house and any other built up areas
with windows and doors so that you know the views that you will be exposed to from different areas in the
house. Now put in the trees and plants that you would want in your garden in your sketch.
Look around your property at different times of the day to see what kind of sunlight you have at different
times of the day and then you can think of the plants that will need various amounts of sunshine and shade and
plant them accordingly. You can even decide on where you would want to plant trees to give shade in some areas.
While you are walking around make sure you have your sketch with you so that you can make notes on it about
the sun and the shade around you. This way you will have a perfect guide for planting your garden in the right
way where it will benefit most from the sun and where it does not need so much of sunlight.
Look at your property from various angles
To get better ideas about your garden and landscaping look at your property from various vantage points so
that you know the plus points and how to make the most of the different views. Also take into consideration the
privacy that you may want and how you should not invade the neighbors privacy at the same time. So if you plan
to have a deck make sure it does not cause any problems to the neighbor and for yourself too.
Look around and see where there is good drainage and a slope and where the water may stagnate. Make sure that
you do not have water stagnating around your house and that it drains away from it. For finding out which way
the water flows you could go out while it is raining and have an idea of the flow of the water in your
property.
Make a note of interesting features
If there are any interesting features around your property like a stream near you or rocks that could make it
look more interesting then try and incorporate this into your landscape too. This way you will have a natural
feature too in your landscaping. Another important factor is what you can view from your windows. If you feel
like looking out onto a vibrant flower bed from your kitchen window then plant just that in view so that you
can enjoy the beauty of the flowers while you work in your kitchen.
The notes you have made will make it all so much more easier and methodical for you to start your landscaping.
